  1. University tuition fees

Tuition fees vary depending on course, level of study, and university. Average tuition fees for international students :

  •     Bachelor’s degree : NZ$ 22,000 – 32,000/year
  •     Master’s and Ph.D.: NZ$ 26,000 – 37,000/year
  1. Living costs

When you enroll in a study course for more than a year, you are required to show a bank statement of NZD $20,000 with proof of funds to support yourself for the first year. 

Depending on one’s lifestyle, spending habits and location, you may need more than this. Estimated monthly expenses on average are the following:

  • NZD 150-200 for Utilities
  • NZD 60- 90 for internet
  • NZD 20- 60 for mobile 
  • NZD 300- 500 for groceries 
  • NZD 100- 150 for public transportation
  • NZD 100- 200 for entertainment 

 

  1. Accommodation

Students are offered halls of residence to live in at a reasonable price of NZD 250- 360 per week.

There are options for self-catered and catered accommodation, with prices ranging from NZD 169 to NZD 473 per week.  

In the city, you can find private accommodations with three-bedroom apartments. They tend to be more expensive, costing an average of about NZD 800.

 

  1. Miscellaneous costs

You will need compulsory health insurance, which must be purchased prior to the start of your studies. This will cost you between NZD 200 to 700 per year. Typically, a visit to a general practitioner for consultation will cost around NZ$45. 

For books and stationery, you will need about NZD 500.
