Scholarships offered by James Cook University

JCU Scholarship

James Cook University is ranked among the top 2% of universities worldwide (Academic Ranking of World Universities 2019). James Cook University’s main campus is in Townsville, Queensland, which is in the northern part of Australia. 

It has campuses in Brisbane, Singapore and other places. James Cook University in Singapore has received the EduTrust Star award in recognition of its quality of education and student welfare.

The number of Bhutanese students going for their studies at James Cook University in Brisbane has drastically increased in the last few years.

Due to its affordable tuition fees and location, many Bhutanese students pursue their studies at James Cook University in Brisbane, making it a popular educational destination for them.

  1. The scholarships that JCUB has provided previously to the Bhutanese students are:
  • For the undergraduate students: if the student has 60% or equal in their year 12, they get a bursary of AUD $15000
  • For postgraduate students, if they have achieved 55% or above from any local university, they will receive a bursary of AUD $11,000.

 

  1. Scholarship on IELTS Score:
  • If the student gets an overall band of 6.5 and a minimum of 6 with 7 in at least one of the individual bands, they get a scholarship of AUD $ 2,000.
  • If the student achieves an overall band of 7 with no individual bands below 6.5, they will receive a scholarship of AUD $2,500. 
  • If the student achieves an overall band of 7.5 with no band score below 7, they will receive a scholarship of AUD $3,000.

 

  1. James Cook University, Brisbane, also offers the Excellence Academic Scholarship for students who perform well after they begin their education at the university.
  • If they get a GPA of 6-6.49 in their second semester, they get a scholarship of AUD $ 5000 in their third trimester.
  • If the student gets a GPA of 6.5 and above in their second semester, they get a scholarship of AUD $ 10,000 in their third trimester.
  • If the student gets a GPA of 6 to 6.49 in their third trimester, they get a scholarship of AUD $ 5000 in their fourth trimester.
  • If they get a GPA of 6.5 and above in their third trimester, they get a scholarship of AUD $ 10,000 in their fourth trimester.

The following is the new scholarship provided by James Cook University, Brisbane, for Bhutanese students for the July 2020 intake.

  1.   A flat 30% scholarship, that’s a minimum of AUD 19,632 for all the programs starting from July 2020 (online) intake. The disbursement of scholarships will start from term one.
